ABIDING IN LOVE WITH JESUS
- Spend a few minutes in Centring Prayer – Close your eyes and repeat the word “abiding with Jesus” 50 times in order to focus your heart on God.
- Read John 15:1-11 slowly, attentively, deeply (in NASB version)
- The 3 goals of abiding are: 1) Be with Jesus 2) Become like Jesus 3) Do What Jesus Did: Are these three goals my top priorities? What is the evidence that these are my priorities? If not, what are your priorities?
- Close your eyes again pray and meditate on Jesus. Take some deep breaths. See Jesus sitting with you.
- The 7 core spiritual practices for abiding with Jesus and growing spiritual depth are: Simplicity, Prayer, Scripture, Sabbath, Fasting, Living in community, Silence and solitude. When have you practiced these? What was the result? Which do you need to reintroduce to your routine? Why is this important? what is stopping you?
- Finish with a Prayer of Commitment to the decisions you have made today.
