1. Pray – Begin with 5-10 mins of prayer around the subject of the Gospel, God’s good news for all people in the coming, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus.
2. Key point reflection – what does it mean that… ‘Only God’s story ends in glory?’ what counter-stories are we enticed to enrol in by our aussie culture?
3. Did you identify stronger with Story A ("Live the right ways and you'll find glory") or Story B ("Live and let live and we'll find glory")? Record why.
4. Infograph – Study ‘God’s Story: 5 chapter’s’ infograph below and answer:
a) What new thing did you learn about God’s story?
b) Why do Christians despite believing the story often fail to understand their role as agents of renewal (chapter 4) and therefore live a life no different from those who don’t know Jesus?
c) Read Romans 3:23-24 – How does this verse summarise the Gospel?
d) Why must the Gospel be the centre-piece of God’s big story? What would be the implications if the Gospel wasn’t the centre?
e) Do we go to heaven in chapter 5 or does it come down to earth? What error do we make when we think of “going-to-heaven?” as opposed to God coming down to be with humans in a restored earth?
5. Bible study – Read Galatians 2:20 (NLT) and answer the following questions honestly:
a) How much of your life is really crucified with Christ?
b) Name which parts of self that live restrict the fulness of Jesus in your life?
c) What would it mean for you to no longer live?
d) Name people and things that you have put faith and trust in rather than Jesus?
6. Meditate – on paper write out Gal 2:20 three times and commit the verse to memory.
7. Deeper reading – Read ‘The Gospel is not everything’ by Tim Keller.
8. Deeper video (50m) – Watch ‘Dwelling in the Gospel’ by Tim Keller.
9. Closing Prayer – Take 5 mins to pray that you can better explain God’s story to your friends and family.
