FASTING

  1. Watch the below video: 'How to Fast'
  2. Create a fasting plan by recording:
    • Word from God concerning the purpose of this fast.
    • Time period you will abstain from food - invite youto aim for 24 hour period. If possible fast together as a Life Group starting from the night you meet,
    • A commitment to Pray - set aside 1 hour for prayer per fasting day.
    • Go-deeper: Break a habit! Add to your fast by identifying a specific sin, addiction, or undesirable habit to break free from. Name it, pray to break it, talk to someone about it. 
  3. Complete your fast recording what the Holy Spirit specifically speaks to you during this time.

Discussion Questions
  1. How does viewing Christianity as a lifelong apprenticeship to the Master, Jesus, impact your following of Christ? Name distractions or vices that tempt you with an another master or an alternate path?
  2. In what ways do you position yourself to be transformed by Jesus? How can you include the 7 spiritual practices to position yourself better?
  3. Who can share about this week’s practice, ‘Creating a Fasting Plan’? Can anyone share their experience about a time they fasted?
