Week 7: Silence and Solitude
Our Weekly Spiritual Practice: 30 MINUTES OF SILENCE ALONE
- Designate a 30 minute (minimum) slot this week. It could be day or night, weekday, or weekend.
- Get away from your usual people, places, routine etc. Drive/walk/run to a park, mountain, beach, lookout, hiking trail or similar.
- Officially start your 30 mins of silence – no using your audible voice!
- Practice being still and quiet, off load the mental, emotional and spiritual noise. Practice hearing God’s voice (use the 4 sermon points), read God’s Words in the Bible, meditate on them. Contemplate God’s wonder and splendour in nature.
- After 30 mins you may want to respond to God by talking or writing.
- Use the small ‘Solitude and Silence’ section in the ‘How to Unhurry’ workbook to guide you in establishing this habit in your weekly routine. CLICK HERE
